Let Us Adore Him
A jubilant collection of Christmas favorites by The Sixteen Singers with Symphony Orchestra.
The Sixteen Singers were formed in 2012 for a performance at the Wisconsin Governor’s Executive Residence. While on the campaign trail, Governor Scott Walker heard the Men’s Octet from Baptist College of Ministry and invited the group to sing at his 2011 inauguration. Later that year, the Men’s Octet was invited to the Governor’s Residence to perform for the annual Reagan Dinners and Holiday Magic Banquets. When the group was again invited to perform at the Christmas banquet in 2012, the Octet added eight ladies to the group, forming the Sixteen Singers.
The Sixteen Singers concert quickly became a highlight of the banquets at the Governor’s Residence and other venues, with guests returning year after year to hear their performances. Since its earliest concerts, the group has been recognized for its intimate yet festive performances.
Through the years, members of the Sixteen Singers have graduated from college, been married, and added babies to their families. However, seven of the original members are still a part of the group, and have performed at each concert at the executive residence during Scott Walker’s term as governor. In 2018, Daniel Van Gelderen, artistic director of the group, composed “An Irish Blessing” for Governor Walker, which The Sixteen Singers premiered at the final Christmas concert in the residence as a heartfelt gesture of their gratitude for Governor Walker’s friendship and for his part in the formation and continuation of the Sixteen Singers.
This recording features some of the favorite selections of the group from their years at the Governor’s Residence.
