Degree ProgramsMajors & Minors
Every student at BCM is enrolled in the Bible major, which is designed to develop in students a comprehensive knowledge of the Word of God, the ability to understand and interpret the Scriptures accurately, the ministry experience to know first-hand the power and effectiveness of God’s Word, and the fervency to earnestly proclaim the gospel to a lost world.
The Bible major includes course work in general studies, Bible and theology, and a ministry core curriculum which emphasizes the practical application of biblical principles in life and ministry. In addition to the Bible major and ministry core, each student selects a minor or a second major emphasizing his or her particular focus for ministry preparation.
God’s plan to reach this world, so clearly stated in the Great Commission, is dependent upon revived local churches. The leaders who can change the world must be trained through the local church. The members who will go everywhere preaching the Gospel must be equipped through the local church. The preaching that will change lives must take place through the local church. This vision will be realized only when men with pure hearts, good consciences, and courageous faith, under the direction of Christ, the Head of the Church, uncompromisingly lead their churches in complete obedience to the whole counsel of God. There is a desperate need for young men to be trained to walk with God, know how to pray and see miracles, keep their lives pure, and constantly live on the ground of faith.
Believing that each student has the capacity to transfer the life lessons he has learned to those who follow behind him in life, our mission is to train teachers who can train other teachers. This mentorship perspective shapes everything that we do in the music degree at BCM. The level of excellence is in no way diminished. In fact, someone who is going to train others must achieve mastery in his own practice and performance that others can imitate. He has to reach and maintain a proficiency that is greater than the average. He has to be able to teach himself, be a team player, and lead his students to achieve excellence in their own lives for the sake of others. This passion, permeating all facets of the BCM music degree, teaches students to become leaders for a cause that reaches beyond the narrow confines of individual achievement.
We are dedicated to training evangelists to believe that God responds to faith, that Spirit-led prayer is essential for revival, that Spirit-filled preaching ignites revival, and that revival is not a list of things. It is a Person – Jesus. The gift of the evangelist is just that – a gift from God. At BCM the evangelism minor cannot give you the gift of the evangelist, but it is designed to nurture the gift so it can be used to the fullest. An evangelist is all about the Evangel. It is what he lives to proclaim. At BCM, we endeavor to help a young evangelist understand the Evangel, both to the sinner and the saint, and how to effectively communicate this treasure to a lost world and to the people of God.
